Our Story...
In 2003 we celebrated the birth of our first child Mason. His birth marked the beginning of many significant changes in our lives. Our desires were changing and we knew we couldn't ignore them any longer. We had been living the typical American life. On the surface everything looked normal as we attended social gatherings and worked our way up the corporate ladder, yet underneath we had a continual feeling of dissatisfaction and discontent. Something was missing in our lives. We lived each day selfishly pursuing our own personal wants and needs. Our marriage was hanging in the balance.
In the past, we'd attended a traditional Catholic church that never really clicked for both of us. Over time it became a point of separation... one of us attended church, while the other one didn't.
We did, however, want to find a place to worship as a family. It was important to us that our children grow up with Christian values. Then out of the blue, a dear friend invited us to new church that was meeting at a local, neighborhood elementary school. It was a non-denominational church that we loved immediately. The people were friendly, the worship was authentic, and the teaching was extremely challenging. Looking back now, we realize that this was completely God's doing and Him at work in our lives.
After a few weeks of attendance, we deciding to call this church home. Right away we got connected to new, exciting family activities. We were invited to join a “small group” (something we had never heard of) to study God’s teachings with what turned out to be some of our closest friends in the world. There were a lot of young families there just like ours. Between the social activities and Sunday morning services, we really began to get connected in this church community.
As the church grew, we grew and developed right along with it. The level of accountability and fellowship in a new church is unexplainable. We were growing spiritually and our desires were changing before our eyes. Over the next few years we began to develop a servant's heart and live less selfishly. Christ used a new church to reach our family. The changes we have experienced in our hearts are overwhelming. Our lives have been reshaped and are much more complete. We are living with a purpose now, and nothing seems to be missing or empty as it once was. Our relationship with each other is better and with the support of our church and its guidance, we are raising Godly children.
It was through serving that we really felt like we were connecting with God and fulfilling a purpose within the church body. We became unified in our service and had the opportunity to reach out in the same way that we were reached out to when we first started attending this church.
In our small group we were able to study God’s Word, turn to each other in times of need, celebrate special moments like the birth of our children, birthdays, new jobs, new homes, holidays, and have a sense of accountability in our walk with Christ and the development of our faith.
Since we first started attending this once small church we have been able to experience the growth process of church planting. We have been privileged with the opportunity to be a part of God’s work in reaching out to the community through Project Impact and other outreach events. We have watched God’s church impact so many lives through encouraging servanthood and volunteering within and outside of the church body. We have been a part of supporting other families in fellowship and discipleship, teaching and leading adult and youth small groups, and participating in prayer groups as well as being a part of committees in finance, church planting, women’s ministry, and family ministry.
It has been a life changing journey of spiritual growth, deepening relationships, allowing the Lord to stretch our hearts, and making Christ the leader of our home and center of our lives.
